# Who Owns Coqnet?

Coqnet was designed to go beyond the current ways teams are building L1 projects. Many teams will collect profit by token emission, OTC deals, gas fees, and a variety of other mechanisms. Coqnet has none of these in place. Coqnet uses the COQ token, which was a fair launch pioneer, so there is no centralized team that is rewarded or financially incentivized with tokens. Coqnet has no revenue from the tools made for the community, it is a public good.

The concept behind Coqnet came from a collaboration between [GoGoPool](https://www.gogopool.com/) (infra provider) and [Rowship ](https://rowship.com/)(a venture studio), when both teams shared the vision into a making a decentralized community owned L1 with community owned validators – the first of its kind. GoGoPool enables communities to grow their layer one by providing the infrastructure needed to easily launch validators. Gogopool partnered with Coqnet for 30 days to provide the infrastructure to enable one click validators to join the Coqnet network with the [climax event. ](https://app.gitbook.com/o/RckDDtV697HOUloVsp9c/s/VBjovBPc05xiKPW5y4Cq/the-coqnet-climax) Rowship maintains the operations of Coqnet which includes front end development, back end devlopment, marketing, and partnerships.

As COQ holders, we chose to build on top of the COQ token because of its fair launch and proven deep rooted memetics. It is important to note, we are not backed by the COQ team, but we have their blessing. We are also not affiliated with the Chikn project. The vision is the Coqnet grow beyond any one developer team – rather to be owned by you, the community.

As we continue to build this vision, we have had an overwhelming positive response from builders in the community. We want to clarify that beyond providing support and guidance, at this moment we cannot give a more hands on support on development. We also do not have a foundation or treasury to give out grants. Coqnet is not VC backed – all of these efforts are self-funded.

We look forwarded to building a cultural epicenter on Avalanche and make the ideal space for new AVAX builders to have a sandbox for innovation.
